Stitch patterns for heathered yarn
Heathered yarn doesn’t need an elaborate pattern: stockinette stitch, ribbing, or seed stitch look calm yet lively in it. Cables and lace patterns are possible but stand out less than in solid-color yarn – they show most clearly in light, low-contrast shades.
Our heathered yarns
Alpaca Wool Bafina with 60% alpaca comes in white, brown, and gray. Heathered Wool Blumi with Baby Alpaca and Heathered Yarn Linda with Alpaca are heathered in beige, and Heathered Yarn Regenbogen with Wool blends many bright shades. Yardage ranges from 270 to 450 m per 100 g, and needle sizes from 3 to 4.5 mm.
What heathered yarn is good for
Sweaters, cardigans, and shawls you wear often: heathered shades are easy to combine with other colors. The finer yarns from 350 m are also good for light tops.
Care
Hand wash at 30 °C with wool detergent, dry flat, do not wring.

Frequently asked questions
What does heathered mean?
Heathered means that fibers in several shades are blended before spinning. This gives the yarn a finely speckled look instead of a solid color.
Which stitch patterns suit heathered yarn?
Simple patterns such as stockinette stitch, ribbing, or seed stitch. Cables and lace are possible, but they show up more clearly in solid-color yarn.
How is it different from multicolor yarn?
From a distance, heathered yarn looks like a single shade with lively depth. In multicolor yarn, several colors are clearly visible and form stripes, patches, or gradients as you knit.
